What is LifeLabs?
LifeLabs is an idealab, that was born under the wings of communication agency Boondoggle. Employees of Boondoggle can sign up for LifeLabs and will get one-day each week to work on LifeLabs projects. Currently 8 boondogglers with different background, skills and experience are working in the lab.
Why a proof of concept or POC?
This is what wikipedia tells us:
A proof of concept (POC) or a proof of principle is a realization of a certain method or idea(s) to demonstrate its feasibility, or a demonstration in principle, whose purpose is to verify that some concept or theory that has the potential of being used. A proof-of-concept is usually small and may or may not be complete.
A proof of concept is quick to make, but big enough to actually test an idea. We like to call this real-life market research.
What kind of ideas are we looking for?
- An idea must be digital.
- We must be able to quickly develop a POC for the idea.
- It must be an innovative terrain.
- It has to be unique or offer a unique approach to a known problem.
- We must be able to feel the business potential.
Why should you become a fan?
Because you believe in the project / idea and want to be regularly updated of the status of the project (launch of the proof of concept, partnerships, ...)
What do the different project statuses mean?
- IDEA: There is an idea in our head and we're exited about it. We haven't decided yet if we're going to develop this further. We're just checking how people are reacting if we tell them about the idea.
- POC DEV: Yes! it's decided, this idea will come to live. We're currently developing the proof of concept.
- POC LIVE: The proof of concept is live and is available. We're actively collecting feedback and see where we can go with this project feature and business-wise.
- P&F: The outcome of the proof of concept has been really positive. We've got enough uptake and feedback to actively start exploring the options of a full version of the project. We're not going to take this next step on our own in this phase we're looking for a partner and/or funding.
- SPINOFF: This is the ultimate goal for each of our projects, we've managed to transform our idea from a proof of concept to a standalone company.
Why are we doing this?
Because we love to create stuff. We love to innovate. We love to ponder upon business models. We love long discussions. We love challenging ourselves. We love meeting and working with new people.
How is your share in future profits calculated?
Once you've submitted your participation application via the website. We'll have a chat and work out a schedule. Your share will be calculated based on the number of hours you decide to contribute on the project.
How will we work together?
Depending on the skill and experience of a contributor we'll define a specific task or feature to finish. We'll make an estimation of the amount of hours you'll need to finish this task and we'll regularly have follow-up meetings.
